Although the establishment of the department dates back to 1982, it started education and training under the Eskişehir Osmangazi University established by law in 1993.

          There are six major disciplines in the Department of Statistics: Statistical Theory, Applied Statistics, Statistical Information Systems, Probability Theory and Probability Processes, Operations Research and Risk Analysis. If the students of the department are successful, they can benefit from double major and minor programs in Mathematics, Business, and Economics.

           In the first year, basic computer knowledge, programming languages (Visual Programming, C ++, Excel Code writing VBA, Access Macro) and statistical package programs are used.

           Computer applications of field knowledge courses are carried out in computer labs with statistical package programs (SPSS, STATISTICA, SAS, STATGRAPH, MINITAB, QSB, MATLAB).

           It is aimed to increase the job opportunities of graduates through courses such as Business, Economics, Money and Capital Markets, Simulation, Quality Control, Program Software and Marketing Research besides field knowledge courses.

           Apart from the projects they have prepared regarding education, students can find the opportunity to work by taking active duties in surveys and censuses prepared by private research companies and TUIK.

           In addition, our students have the opportunity to do internships in various public and private institutions, such as quality control and system analyst.

           Our graduates can work in public and private institutions with the title of statistician. Apart from this, our graduates can work as Academicians, System Analysts, Computer Programmers, Data Analysts, TUIK Specialists, Quality Control Specialists, Marketing and Sales Specialists, Bank Inspectors, Specialists in Banks and Insurance Companies, Production, Finance and Accounting personnel.
